Many parents are concerned about the right time to start caring for their teenager’s complexion. It all depends on the individual characteristics of your child’s body. Some enter puberty as early as 9-10 years old. In others, acne breakouts, linked to hormonal changes, may appear at the age of 13-14 or even later.
However, it is important not to miss the moment and, from the very first changes, to choose a comprehensive skincare routine. The longer you put off choosing cosmetic care products, the worse the consequences will be, including (post-acne) scars – these can remain on the face for years.
Daily cleansing: Teach your child to cleanse their face twice a day, morning and evening. Use a mild cleansing gel or gentle foam suitable for your child’s sensitive skin.
Toning: Toning completes the cleansing step and prepares the face for further care.
Hydration:
Apply a light, non-comedogenic moisturizer to keep skin soft and hydrated. Look for products containing natural ingredients, such as aloe vera or plant extracts, which have soothing and moisturising properties.
Encourage your child to use an appropriate amount of moisturiser and gently massage it into the skin until it is completely absorbed.
Sun protection: Inculcate the habit of daily application of sunscreen with a sun protection factor (SPF) of at least 30. Explain the importance of sun protection in preventing premature skin ageing and skin cancer.
In the presence of acne it is recommended to use exfoliating pads *once a week
Local solutions against acne, patches against blackheads.
